[FROM GREETING CARD WITH THE FLAG]

Epping sub branch of the NSW state branch of the returned and services league of Australia.

This card records the presentation by the members of the Epping RSL sub-branch of this Japanese flag to Yasuhiko Kambe, the grand nephew of Seiji Itoh who served in the Japanese navy during World War 2.
An Australian soldier, Hugh Brennan found the flag, in 1945 at Balikpapan Borneo.
He later gave the flag to this RSL sub-branch where it has been in safe keeping to this day.
The Epping sub-branch of the RSL this day 17th September 2004 returns this flag to its country of origin and to the family of its owner.
